Bob Cusick

A first meeting with Bob Cusick is a consultation, not a signing. He does not open with paperwork, and he does not ask you to come to an office — he meets clients in their own homes, where they hold the advantage. His clients tend to repeat his phrase back to him: be served, not sold.

Bob has been licensed in Utah since 2007 and works full time. MLS records show 318 buyer-side transactions and 236 listings closed. He holds the GRI and ABR designations and came to real estate from a sales career, but what clients describe most often is that he knows houses. He reads construction, wiring, roof lines and repair cost the way other agents read a comp sheet, and he uses it to talk buyers out of homes as readily as into them. On new construction he says the same thing every time: the agent in the model home works for the builder, not for you.

He also does the work himself, with unusual literalness. Clients recount him patching a ceiling, rehanging a closet door, replacing window screens, paying to have a sewer line scoped before closing, and turning up on a Monday morning with a cooling unit when a buyer's air conditioning failed the weekend she moved in. Several of them had closed years earlier.

Every one of Bob's clients gets the same list at no charge: unlimited moving boxes, a dump trailer for as many loads as they need, a 26-foot moving truck, two movers for four hours, radon and meth testing, and a home re-key. He keeps a supply of used outdoor hand tools he passes on to clients who need them, and a network of trades for the work he cannot do himself.

Bob works the south end of the Salt Lake Valley and out into Utah Valley — South Jordan, West Jordan, Riverton, Herriman, Bluffdale, Draper, Sandy, Taylorsville and Salt Lake City, through Lehi, Highland, Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain. He answers his own phone, and his clients leave their reviews about his service on Google.
